"First you imitate, then you innovate" — This is a great year-round sink-tip fly. This Blue-headed fly plays like Miles, but it is a bit more aggressive than his famously calm demeanor. The stinger hook gets more solid hook-ups than a standard fly. The rabbit fur has great movement and the little bit of flash gives it a perfect mixture of colors and tones.
Guide: Pete Field (2026) - The low water for summer steelhead will make the black sink tip fly with a soft contrast color the goto choice. Miles Davis is a dandy sink tip fly in the design and the colors for the sink tip. Pro tip: On the Deschutes you do not have to dredge your fly right at the bottom. A good steady swing at the right speed and angle a foot above the bottom will get a grab without losing flies to snags.
