As a company, we are always searching for new and better technologies for our rods and line systems. In a quest to beef up our 8wt Pure Skagit rod, we discovered a new graphite blend with that unmistakable “wow” factor. From this breakthrough, the MS (Micro Skagit) second-generation rods were born.
MS Skagit Series
- 9'9" 3wt – Ideal for small water, soft hackles, bead heads, and small streamers
- 10' 4wt – Most popular in the micro series; versatile for trout and bass with enough power for mid-sized streamers and distance
- 10'4" 5wt – Designed for larger streamers and increased casting distance

OVERVIEW
Featuring a crisper action and updated graphite technology, these rods maintain the action Ed Ward approved in the original generation. A new down-locking reel seat, refined components, and premium cork set these rods apart. The full-wells upper grip allows for both single-hand and two-handed Skagit casting, while REC Cericoil guides from Gen 1 enhance flex and durability.

Olympic Peninsula Skagit Tactics proudly presents our second generation of two-handed rods. Developed over several years, these rods refine the original taper to fully represent Ed’s casting concepts.
This expanded lineup spans from a 9'9" two-handed 3wt up to an 11'6" 8wt (excluding 6wt), and is divided into two categories:
- MS Series – Hybrid trout spey / single-hand capable rods
- SHS Series – Short spey / switch-style rods
These rods reflect decades of dedication to sustained-anchor two-handed casting and embody Ed’s original vision.
