As a company, we are always searching for new and better technologies for our rods and line systems. In an effort to refine our 8wt Pure Skagit rod, we discovered a new graphite blend with an undeniable “wow” factor. From that discovery, the SHS Pure Skagit generation was born. Featuring a crisper action and updated graphite technology, these rods still carry the action originally approved by Ed Ward. With a new down-locking reel seat and components, plus a glossy cleared blank and premium cork, this rod stands apart. We retained REC Cericoil guides to enhance flex and durability.

Olympic Peninsula Skagit Tactics is proud to release its second generation of two-handed rods. Developed over several years, these rods reflect refined tapers built around Ed’s concepts. The lineup includes rods ranging from a 9'9" 3wt to an 11'6" 8wt (excluding 6wt), and is divided into two categories: MS (hybrid trout spey/single hand) and SHS (modern switch/short spey). These rods represent decades of dedication to sustained-anchor two-handed casting and embody Ed’s original vision.

SHS Skagit Series

• 11' 7wt: Ideal for smaller steelhead/salmon, large trout, and bass streamers. Excellent for distance fishing (popular in the Great Lakes and Southern Oregon).
• 11'6" 8wt: Increased power for all-around steelhead and salmon fishing. Enough backbone to confidently handle larger fish.
