Simms Wading Staff - Black

Eventually most fisherman end up using a wading staff. Honestly, I wish I would have sooner. No doubt it would have saved me a few unwanted swims over the years. I'm not a stable as I used to be and now use one 100% of the time and the Simms Wading Staff has been tested and it's durable. When fishing rivers like the Deschutes, it is a must.

Guide: Pete Field (2026) - Simms and Fishpond each make collapsible wader staffs that are easy to carry yet so useful when needed.  Wading staffs are for everyone and in the current of the steelhead rivers they can just float below you idling for when you need them.  It is interesting that the hiking crowd accepts hiking poles at nearly any age or ability as necessary equipment.  The steelheader would be wise to do the same.  The Wading staff is useful on the walk along the bank, for probing unknown water for your next steps downriver, and for one more point of contact in the water.

• To deploy: Grip the orange aluminum ring to pull down on the slider shaft until the spring-loaded pin pops out locking the shaft sections together
• To collapse: Press the spring-loaded pin allowing the slider shaft to slide up, releasing the tension which holds the shaft sections together. Pull the sections apart and bring each section together to fold and re-sheath.
